Just bought this set based on a favorable Fine Woodworking review and because it seemed to me to be the best trade off between quality and price. The tool steel is beautifully and fully polished and no further honing is needed to get going. My test of whether a chisel is ready to go is that it should be able to shave hairs off your arm.
